Company History
As a Nosler employee, it’s a great honor to be asked to go to lunch with John A. Nosler and listen to some of the amazing stories that have shaped our industry and discuss what the future may hold. It was on one such company outing that the idea for the Model 48 Legacy was born. John was accompanied by his grandson, John R. Nosler, and one other employee, when he began describing what he would expect in the perfect production rifle. Before he finished his thoughts, he had pen in hand and was sketching the specifics on his napkin. With great detail, he would mimic holding the rifle to his shoulder and explain exactly how it should feel, and where every piece would interact with the shooter’s body. Even at 95 years of age, John’s actions and descriptions more closely resembled an engineer fresh out of college than someone approaching triple digits. He would imagine firing the rifle, working the action, chambering a round… then sketch what he saw and how he imagined the rifle would perform. When he was finished, he had sketched the design of a true hunter’s rifle, one that was light enough to carry on long days and still shoot match-quality groups at the range, and it had a wood stock. That lunch meeting was not forgotten and the rifle that John described was relayed to the NoslerCustom division of Nosler. This year, we are proud to unveil the rifle that was first imagined, then conceived, and now realized by John A. Nosler himself with the same drive and passion that he originally started the Nosler Partition Bullet Company with: The Model 48 John A. Nosler Legacy Rifle.
Each Model 48 rifle has been accuracy-tested with NoslerCustom® ammunition and is guaranteed to deliver three- quarter-of-an-inch, 3-shot group accuracy after break-in period.

The NoslerCustom® Model 48 is built on the same action as our Custom rifles–but in a round-top version that accepts standard scope-mounting bases. Nosler’s proprietary push-feed action features a 2-position safety and an adjustable trigger set to a crisp, 3 lb. let-off. The Model 48 offers exceptional precision and reliable performance. The action features a classic one-piece bottom metal and trigger guard. To achieve the highest level of accuracy, the Model 48 integrates the unique Micro Slick™ Coating on interior metal surfaces, including inside the bolt body, on the firing pin and firing pin spring for maximum corrosion and wear-resistance, even with extensive dry firing.
All metal surfaces, internal and external, have a thin coating to keep your rifle protected during any hunting situation. External surfaces are coated with Cerakote™, a ceramic-based coating that protects the firearm from even the harshest hunting conditions without increasing weight or adversely affecting performance. Internal surfaces are coated with Micro Slick™, a dry-film lubricant that is commonly used on internal engine parts to reduce friction and wear.
