This position as Ballistics Manager begins as an “Introductory Trainee” for 60 consecutive days, during which time Management staff will evaluate whether the employee is suited for the position. If the employee is determined to be suitable for the job, status will then advance to “Regular Employee” on the first of the month following the 60-day period and Company benefits will commence. (Refer to Benefit Summary sheet)
Additionally, the successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check. Nosler Inc is a federally regulated company that requires employees to have a clean background check and the ability to pass a drug screen including THC.
Essential Functions of the Job
Summary: Develops, directs, and coordinates activities of the Ballistics Department as they test Nosler products. The Ballistics Department directly supports the Production, Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Service areas within the Company, and follows Industry Standards (SAAMI) while doing so. The Ballistics Manager performs the following duties personally or through subordinate personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs department activities to test Nosler products, and to recommend process or design changes to improve product quality and/or performance.
- Is capable of and willing to perform every function expected of subordinates at a high skill level.
- Trains subordinates in the proper performance of their essential job duties; generates Procedures and Work Instruction documentation accordingly.
- Resolves problems using solutions that involve systematic problem solving skills.
- Confers with management, production, and other staff to set direction and efficient support for internal Company customers.
- Expects and enforces strict Departmental discipline with regard to safety, accuracy of work, legible and thorough documentation, and presenting a professional scientific demeanor.
- Ensures that all testing is done in accordance with SAAMI guidelines and procedures.
- Provides direction and example for interpretation of company policies and procedures, and their application to the Ballistics Department activities.
- Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve Ballistics operations, and develops recommendations accordingly.
- Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manages employees in the Ballistics Department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees. Plans and directs all aspects of Ballistics activities within the organization.
- Ensures all Ballistics projects, initiatives, and work processes are in conformance with the organization's established policies and objectives.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability typically required to do so.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Engineering field with 2 to 5 years’ experience managing people; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and hands-on experience with data acquisition and instrumentation is required. Industry experience and familiarity with SAAMI standards, load development, and interior/exterior ballistics is preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with advanced mathematical concepts such as algebra, trigonometry, geometry, probability and statistical inferences. A firm grasp of physics and how it applies to small arms ammunition & components is necessary.
Reasoning Ability: The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where little standardization or public information exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Common Sense: The ability to solve problems and figure things out on the fly, based on life experience and knowing what is needed and when to apply which skill. Many things do not need to be analyzed to death – just fix it or solve it, and do it right.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be fluent in general office applications including Spreadsheet, Word Processing, and Database software.

As part of this commitment, we reserve the right to expect all male personnel to follow the company guidelines regarding hair length, which is not to exceed one inch below the collar.
